We should practice Yoga for managing stress and anxiety.
1 – EFFECT OF STRESS :
Stress is an unavoidable part of our daily life. It comes from hectic work schedule, family dispute, commitment for dealing with various issues like finance, child care etc. It can produce mind problems such as sadness, anger, behavioral issues and anxiety. Stress if not dealt with timely, may lead to many health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and diabetics.
2 – EFFECT OF ANXIETY:
Anxiety is a feeling of intense worry and fear of danger situations. It is strong enough to interfere with daily activities. It causes symptoms like rapid breathing, fast heart rate, feeling tense and restless. Though it is a mental disorder, it causes so many effects on our body, such as: Heart palpitations, increased blood pressure, fatigue, stomach upset, dizziness and fatigue.
3 – YAGA FOR STRESS AND ANXIETY:
Yoga is a tool which can help in recognising and controlling thoughts and feelings which leads to create anxiety. It can regulate our stress response and build resilience for stress. Research studies have proved that Yoga can help in relieving stress and anxiety by soothing our overactive nervous system. It relaxes both our mind and body.
Actual meaning of Yoga is union. Yoga is a union of mind and body. A disturbed and distracted mind can not concentrate and utilise the body for a successful achievement. By the help of Yoga we can keep our mind calm and concentrated.
4 – HOW DOES YOGA HELP REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY:
Variety of poses in Yoga help us to release physical blockages like muscle knots, release of mental tensions and emotions. Yoga can be considered as a complementary medicine which results in reducing prescription of medicine. It helps in releasing a mood boosting endorphins. Being a feel good hormone it positively affects our stress handling capacity. Stretches in Yoga has a positive effect on parasympathetic nerve activity which encourages relaxation.
5 – REDUCE STRESS BY BREATHING TECHNIQUE IN YOGA:
During Yoga practice, a breathing technique known as” Pranayam” helps us to regulate our breath and relax. Scientific studies shows that stress and stress related conditions can be managed by changing the breathing technique. This helps us in making our body and mind calm and reduce stress level. When we are in a difficult situation, when we are uncomfortable and uneasy in taking a proper decision, it helps in making the mind calm and relaxing the body.
Under stress, the breathing pattern of a person automatically changes. By deliberately changing the breathing pattern, one can feel relaxed and reduce the stress level. There are a variety of breathing techniques which we can perform through our nose and mouth.
Therefore it is advisable to practice Yoga for managing stress and anxiety.
